My name is Ivona Zager, and I am the Founder and Director of Inspiring Solutions Psychotherapy. Serving clients in Ontario since 2004, in a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, it's always about honing the person's natural abilities to live the life to which they aspire.
My preference is the Solution Focused approach, which aims at finding the most time-efficient path to help the client achieve their practical goals.
There are many types of psychotherapy using different therapeutic techniques. I practice integrative psychotherapy, which means reaching to treasure troves of various psychotherapy schools, among them ones designated to work with the cognitive mind, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT, and others to access the subconscious mind, like hypnosis. The latter would be used only with the client's explicit consent. Both the cognitive and the subconscious mind are equally important, just responsible for different tasks. I am also Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Clinician. EMDR therapy is usually the fastest way to reduce or eliminate the impact of a traumatic event.
I have a sweet spot for clinical and wellness hypnotherapy, mostly following the footsteps of the great Milton Erickson, who was skilled in localizing and removing subconscious reasons for physical and psychological symptoms. He was a genius in the understanding mind-body connection and in restoring balance and health.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO, Licence No. 001695. I got my license on the opening day of the College.
I graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1986. For the first nine years of my career, I was a faculty teaching psychology at Wroclaw University in Poland. My Alma Matter is one of the most reputable and oldest Universities in Europe, and the University of Toronto evaluated my Master's degree from WU at the same level.
Since 2004, I am a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals and a contributor to the OAMHP journal "Psychologica."
In 2019 I started the EMDR Training Course with Roy Kiessling, and in 2020 I became EMDR Clinician.
I am the NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists) certified member since 2003, NGH Board Certified Master Hypnotherapist and Instructor, and a passionate seeker on a quest of discovery of the subconscious mind phenomena.
I have been working with the subconscious mind for almost two decades and conducted thousands of hypnotherapy hours. In 2004 I established Counselling Hypnotherapy Centre Clinic and School. For the next ten years, hypnotherapy was my main focus.
Psychology, Psychotherapy, what do they mean?
Psyche comes from the Greek word psykhe , meaning "the soul, mind, spirit." Contemporary, we use the prefix psycho- , meaning mind.
Psychology comes from two words: psyche and logos . Logos means logic and reason, so psychology is about understanding the mind.
Psychotherapy comes from psyche and therapy. The word therapy comes from the Greek therapeia, which means "curing, healing."
The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario CRPO provides information on the scope of practice, standards, and regulations for Registered Psychotherapists on the CRPO website www.crpo.ca .
Privately, I have a great and humble appreciation for all Life on this Planet and enjoy living in harmony. I am an avid gardener and urban farmer. I raise awareness of animal rights at every opportunity. I am a fitness guru; I love open waters, long-distance swimming (but usually I swim in my gym pool); I enjoy varied kinds of art and creative expressions; holistic and wellness communities; and charitable engagements. As for family life, it's on a quieter note now, as I am an empty nester and not a grandma yet.
Iwona Zager/ Ivona Zager : About my name: its original Polish spelling is Iwona because in Polish, 'w' is pronounced 'v'; so usually, in the English-speaking zone, I spell my name Ivona. It is reflected in the records of the CRPO in the Public Registry of Members.
